How to Get a Health Check-Up in Turkey as a Visitor
Want a general health check while you are in Turkey? Here is how a check-up works for tourists, expats and long-stay visitors.
Many visitors use a stay in Turkey for a routine health check, either because they live abroad, because they have time during a long holiday, or because they want results before returning home. A check-up can be arranged without a long wait if you know what to ask for.
Start with a Video Consultation
The doctor asks about your age, family history, medicines, past illnesses, lifestyle and any symptoms, and then recommends tests that make sense for you instead of a generic package. A check-up for a healthy 30-year-old differs from one for a 55-year-old with high blood pressure.
Tests That Are Commonly Included
Depending on your needs, a check-up may include blood tests for blood count, blood sugar, cholesterol, kidney and liver function, thyroid hormone, vitamin D and B12 and iron, a urine test, a blood pressure check, an electrocardiogram and, where indicated, ultrasound or an X-ray. Screening for specific conditions depends on age and sex and is decided by the doctor.
Where the Tests Are Done
Blood and urine samples can be collected at your hotel or home in selected areas and analysed in an accredited laboratory, with digital results. Imaging such as ultrasound or X-ray is arranged at a partner centre. Ask on WhatsApp for what is available at your location.
Results and Follow-Up
The doctor explains the results in plain language, tells you what is normal and what needs attention, and gives you a written summary you can take to your own doctor. Fasting for 8 to 12 hours is often needed for blood tests, so ask before you eat. A check-up does not replace care for urgent symptoms.
