Shingrix Shingles Vaccine in Turkey: What You Need to Know

Shingrix is a two-dose vaccine against shingles. Here is who should consider it, how the doses work, side effects, and how to arrange it in Turkey.

October 8, 2026 · By E-rx.online Team

Shingles is a painful rash caused by the same virus as chickenpox, which stays dormant in the body and can reactivate later in life. It can leave long-lasting nerve pain called postherpetic neuralgia. Shingrix is a recombinant vaccine that greatly lowers the risk of both shingles and this complication.

Who Is It for

CDC advises Shingrix for adults aged 50 and over, and for adults aged 19 and over with a weakened immune system. There is no upper age limit. In the UK, the NHS offers a shingles vaccine to people from age 65 and to some others, and the eligibility has changed over time. Rules differ between countries, so ask your own doctor about your situation.

Two Doses

Shingrix is given as two doses. For healthy adults the second dose follows two to six months after the first. In people with weakened immunity the interval can be shorter, one to two months. If you are travelling or living in Turkey for a limited time, plan the second dose so that you can complete the series.

Side Effects

Most people have a sore arm, redness and swelling at the injection site, and some feel tired, have muscle pain, headache, chills or fever for two to three days. Very rarely, a nerve condition called Guillain-Barre syndrome has been reported. You should not have the vaccine if you are acutely unwell with a fever, if you have had a severe allergic reaction to a component, or if you are pregnant, unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Arranging It in Turkey

Availability, brand and price depend on the pharmacy and clinic, and we cannot guarantee stock in advance. Message us on WhatsApp and we will check availability and how to arrange the injection by a nurse or doctor. Bring your vaccination record, and tell us if you have had shingles or the older Zostavax vaccine.
